Day 42 – Cross Country Bike Tour – Erie, PA to Hamburg, NY
80 miles, +1905/-1730 feet
Between miles 30 and 60 on our cross country tour we experienced some rain today. Not too bad, but enough to get wet. After all the “absolutely amazing” weather we’ve experienced in the past six weeks, it was our turn. No one complained.
The New York State sign is twenty miles outside Erie. To our surprise, one of the Bike & Build groups was on the opposite side of the road celebrating their state crossing in to PA as we arrived at the New York State sign. Last year we ran in a group just before they crossed the Mississippi River in to Hannibal, MO. Always the nicest group of “kids”. Bike & Build is a great organization. https://bikeandbuild.org/
Today, being Friday, is Big Dream Bike Tours jersey day. Dana, however, in honor of our ride past the New York State sign, wore his New York State Free Spirit Bike Jersey.

Rain or shine, the tour process continues. After our rest day in Erie it was back to the business of riding to our next destination. The Feed Zone was a little bit on the damp side, but never-the-less, it was part of the day.
The other part of the (food) day was the BIG CREAM PUFF. Guess who ate it? It’s hard not to stop at Aunt Milie’s Family Restaurant and Bakery – the food and the goodies are delicious. All part of the journey and part of the fun. Tonight we look forward to dinner at the Waterstone Grill. More good food!
