Day 47 – Cross Country Bike Tour – Albany, NY to Springfield, MA

93 miles, +5142/-5269 feet

Long cross country day with lots of climbing and an equal amount of amazing descending.  After crossing the Hudson River, the morning proceeded to follow a route through the woods.  It was beautiful.

We made a stop in the morning and then a second stop for lunch at a shady spot in a small shopping center by a chocolate shop.  No one was in any sort of rush today.  After PB & J’s we had strawberry shortcake.  After all, it’s now or never with only one more full-length riding day left.  Did that time go by fast?  Did the miles pass quickly?

Without question, the highlight of the day for everyone was our last stop just twenty miles from our hotel in Springfield.  Along side the road is a rest area right next to a small river.  Heaven!

Tomorrow night we will celebrate the journey, and on Friday morning we will ride the last few miles down the Charles River Parkway to Pleasure Bay Beach. It’s already feeling a little bit bitter sweet…

What a feeling....
