Day 39 – Cross Country Bike Tour – Wooster to Niles, OH
91 miles, +3202/-3176 feet
So beautiful….and the cycling was great, too!
We continued our cross country tour today riding out of Wooster past COW (College of Wooster), and down the road into some truly beautiful countryside with wonderful and amazing views. And, there was climbing – lots of climbing.
It’s not all about riding.
There are sights along the road when you just have to stop and take a picture or talk to the animals. Or both.
A bike trail took us past the Morton Salt plant in Rittman, Ohio this morning. Very large building!
Today the riders burned (approximately) 4500 calories, which means they can eat just about anything they want for dinner.
Everyone likes dessert, but one rider (Mark – not to mention names) seems to like dessert the best. Tonight we had ice cream after dinner. Last night I heard Mark had a pizza in his room after dinner. When you ride cross country you have to do what ever you need to do to meet your nutritional needs. It’s important to be fueled-up.
Tomorrow we ride into Erie, PA, for our final rest day. You’d think the last thing any one would want to do is ride their bike on a rest day, but that ‘s not what will happen if the sun is shining. We might just have riders taking a bike ride just to lay on the beach and swim in the lake. There’s no time to waste!
