Day 36 – Cross Country Bike Tour – Indianapolis to Richmond, IN

68 miles, +1584/-1370 feet

Another day in cross country paradise!  Crystal clear skies, no wind, and 80 degrees.

The road to Richmond is long and straight as it passes through a variety of little towns. Very nice little towns that do interesting things like decorate bikes along the main street. We certainly felt welcome – even if our bikes looked sort of plain in comparison.

Great sense of community can be felt in each town

Being Saturday, it seems as though everyone was mowing their lawns. But…when the mowers would stop, the sounds of the birds were amazing.  It was like they were as happy as we were riding along looking at all the pretty flowers, painted doorways and unique antique shops.

Tomorrow we cross another state line and will spend the night in Ohio.          As of this afternoon the riders have 2,378 miles behind them and less than a 1,000 miles to go. Ohio is where the climbing starts to ramp up.  Really though, it’s practice for New York State. That is where all of the cross country miles of practice will really start to pay off.
