Such a big cross country day. We left early this morning before breakfast was served at the hotel so headed to McDonald’s to pick up the Big Breakfast for our riders.  The hotel has a very nice coffee room where we were able to sit and eat together. According the the guys, that’s a breakfast the really does the job!

The road to Tucumcari is long and straight, up and down, just plain wonderful.  And of course, we continue to have perfect weather (said with fingers crossed).

Due to the length of today’s ride we opened up the Feed Zone three times.  Each unique, but the second was absolutely amazing at a shade covered picnic table on the side of the road.  To celebrate the day we broke out a table cloth and the party plates. PB&J’s and fruit salad, along with pastries and icy cold water, sent our riders on their way down the road feeling satisfied and ready to pedal once again.

New Mexico is amazingly green.  They continue to have unexpected rain here as they did last night.  In Las Vegas we experienced a brief downpour, but apparently closer to Tucumcari it rained much harder.  As a result, what is usually brown this time of year is green.  The small creeks are very red with muddy water.  The contrast is nice.

Tomorrow we leave New Mexico and enter Texas for one night.
